Educational videos help patients understand eye conditions and procedures including LASIK and cataract surgeries
(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - When a patient walks into the John-Kenyon American Eye Institute (JKAEI) the one thing they know for sure is that something is wrong with their vision. Beyond that, many patients know very little about the differences in eye conditions. Now patients at JKAEI have a chance to learn more about their specific eye problems while waiting to see their doctor.
The doctors at JKAEI have developed informational videos on a variety of eye conditions aimed at helping educate patients on their specific condition and their treatment options. When a patient arrives, they receive a portable DVD player with a video specific to their condition; this video also features an introduction from the doctor they are about to see. The doctors produced the videos to educate patients and make the experience of visiting the eye doctor less intimidating.
“Vision is so important to a person’s well-being, so when people develop vision problems, they can get very scared and nervous,” said Dr. Asim Piracha, a cataract and refractive specialist. “The videos help patients understand that we can help restore their vision, often with a simple procedure.”
The practice currently has videos addressing LASIK surgery, Cataract surgery, Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy and Age-Related Macular Degeneration. [View the videos here.]
JKAEI provides patients with the videos at all three of their locations, St. Matthews, New Albany, In. and Jeffersonville, In. In addition, patients can view the videos at home by visiting their website, www.johnkenyon.com.
